Sun on the grass
View from the window #6
The dreaded lurgi hit in a big way late yesterday, and I seriously doubted whether going to work today was going to be possible. As it happened, the symptoms generally abated overnight, and I found myself ready to head off to work at the usual time. So I went.
This is the latest shot from the window upstairs at the Unit where I work, and captures the sunlit grass in the park on the slope of the tuff ring left by the volcano whose crater is filled with water to form Pupuke Moana. I may not have previously mentioned that Pupuke is a lake as a result of rainfall. There are no streams running into it, and no springs. It was a secure enough water supply that for many years the brick building with the chimney on the far side of the lake was the pumping station to send water from the lake to households in nearby suburbs. The outflow is a channel through the eastern part of the tuff wall directly into the sea (further to the left than is seen here).
It was a good thing that I was there today as my registrar was ill, and away, and there were a number of important assessments to do. Glad to be home again.
