Shoeing a Mule
4th Sept
Trek to Pumdo
Walking at last from the road end, just 4 km but on quite difficult terrain especially for some non hill walkers. So wonderful to stop and look slyly at those worn faces of the local people, (see extra) what a hard life they live, farming the steep hillsides, trading with small herds of mules to carry their wares, carrying huge packs for us trekkers to be comfortable. I love the rhythm of the trek, and so it will continue for the next 13 days heading for the snow leopard zone.
It is years since I camped. The river, fed by 32 glaciers, rushing down to lower altitudes will be our lullaby tonight.
