A Sign of Autumn

A flock of geese flying in v-formation overhead. I wonder where they had flown in from? Just across the water , or further afield? I was reminded of watching a flock arrive at the RSPB reserve at Loch of Strathbeg when I worked there as a volunteer warden one summer. Flying into a strong headwind the birds just flopped down onto the beach, right on the water's edge.
Football later was much better than recent weeks even although we were a man short. I scored our first, against the near-unbeatable J and then really enjoyed the game - we had D who hasn't played for a while but is a great person to play with, always looking for neat passes, as well as J who also favours quick interchanges of the ball. We won 8-4 in the end with some great team moves leading to some of our goals.
