What's Appining?

This morning, Doris and I suddenly decided to take ourselves off to Glasgow, to have a mooch along the Great Western Road. We pottered around for ages - I wandered in and out of all the little craft shops and jewellers, and Doris investigated the fabulous wine merchants and delicatessens....

.......which doesn't really explain how we suddenly found ourselves gawping at Castle Stalker, followed by a seafood dinner in Port Appin.

It's entirely possible that one of us can't read a map.
