I give you...... steps

Tentatively at first,
placing his outstretched toes
on the warm waiting sand,
he had extracted his foot
from the safety
of his mother and his beach towel.
Quickly his second foot had followed
and within moments
he was lost in the excitement
of playing on the beach.
He had sat for at least an hour previously
with extreme wariness
weighing down
his little 2 year old body.
Now all fear was gone
as he frolicked happily
with crab and gull and pebble.
