Tiny Tuesday: Cape Gooseberry "Lantern"

Earlier this year we bought a Cape Gooseberry plant. The promise was that it would bear lovely lantern-like seed pods which would then open to reveal a lovely orange fruit inside each one.

Well it looks very healthy and it's producing lots of these lanterns, but they all seem to fall off before they've opened to show the fruit. Nevertheless the lanterns look very pretty when backlit.

Each lantern is about 1.5-2 cm across.
