Somme Museum Albert

An underground museum in Albert about the Somme Trenches 1916-17. Some mock ups like this attempt to show what it was like. In this case the officer took a football on an attack and encouraged his men to be the one who got the ball into the German trenches. It was not too successful for his men. Impressive museum on the whole, the rusted remains of weapons, wire, spoons, tins etc were particularly moving.
