Sentinel Steam Shunter
A very famous but little known steam shunter that worked for many years, shunting wagons full of famous chocolate bars.
This little engine worked in the famous, but now defunct Fry's Chocolate factory @ Somerdale, Keynsham near Bristol.
It toiled for many years between 1928 and 1956.It was then stored on site until 1964 before it was sent to the scrapyard!
In 1970 it was bought by 3 successive owners, but never worked on!
In 2010 it was discovered as a rusting hulk and purchased by Eric Miles & Dave Long and transported to Bitton's Avon Valley Railway where it is intended to restore it to full working order..
It almost there. Just the boiler to be refitted and reinstalled. All financed by public donations and worked on by very enthusiastic volunteers.
Amazing what a TEAM effort can achieve?
