Afternoon tea with the girls

This gathering has been a long time in the making. "The girls" are Janette's friends and former colleagues from her time managing SPCK bookshop in Sheffield.
I inherited Janette's voucher for Afternoon Tea at Jameson's, a Christmas present that, because of her illness they had never managed to do together. So it was an honour and a pleasure to share sandwiches, scones, cakes and tea as we re-membered better times. It was great to reconnect with this group with whom I share many memories and feel their love for Janette enfolding me.
There was laughter and stories, confessions and a few tears. In the midst of grief shared I hope we all experienced the support of loving community in this new space.
