MATTHEW SWEGSDA - FLY FOREVER MORE

This song does and will always mean the most to me. The 1st song I ever wrote and has been with me all through my journey.
This is where it began for me...
I was in 6th year at school and at that time, studying higher Music at St. Joseph's Academy in Kilmarnock. I could strum the basic chords not too bad and was an unconfident singer who could hold a wee tune. For the Inventing part of the course we had to make something original that was a tune and could be written on a score of music. I wasn't too advanced with that side of things so I was looking for a way round it. I was in my Advanced Mathematics class at the time and a guy in that class, who never played guitar much at that point, had a little bit of paper with the word Fly on it a few times like a song lyric and I started quizzing him a bit. He told me he has some thoughts for a song but couldn't play etc and I told him I needed to invent something for music and before I knew it I had found this cool new thing that was song writing. I went home that day with this word 'Fly" in mind and sat down with my dads guitar and started strumming some chords. When the tune was stuck in my head I sat down with a bit of paper and within minutes the lyrics emerged and I was amazed at how easy and natural it felt. I always had a flair for poetry at school and I was in my honeymoon period with guitar so when I think back, it does kind of make sense that songwriting has played a big role in my life. I have always enjoyed telling stories and over the years I guess I just became a sort of folk singer songwriter. I have recently been listening to some artists who do songs in third person so I am playing about with that idea at the moment for my new song Bedroom Busker that is in the preliminary stages right now.
When the day comes that I release my debut album, this song is a must for inclusion. It's a massive part of me and is a must for me to keep it real. The 1st 13 songs I will post on here will be my debut album tracks with "Truly Blue" (Shaky's song) being the 13th and hidden track. As soon as I am finished posting them I will be looking for an experienced producer who can help me get my songs up to scratch and ready for the radio. I do dabble with production myself and may attempt a semi-acoustic style album on my own and release it for free to see what kind of feedback I get before approaching a producer but I suppose I will just see how things progress and hope for the best.
