Ricardo's tomatoes

Well it's not the first time I've posted a blip from Ricardo's Tomato farm near Port Macquarie and I can assure you, it won't be the last :-)  We made a bee line for the place this morning and enjoyed a wonderful coffee before heading south to Forster.  As you can see, the tomatoes are absolutely brilliant and guess what.....they actually taste like tomatoes.  Just wonderful.  

We have loaded ourselves up with some little bags of egg tomatoes to take back to the mountains for some well deserving friends.  I think the girls at the checkout counter eyes light up when they see us coming.  We just can't help ourselves and I have to tell you, the Tomato Relish is a winner.  I spoke to the owner Carol today and she told me that the recipe is her 91 year old father-in-laws.  Apparently he refused to give her the recipe for years and it's only recently that she has been able to convince him that he should pass it on to the next generation.  Don't you just love it!!  

I have posted an extra image of the strawberry's growing in the hot house.  We saw people walking out of the sheds with bucket loads of strawberries that they had picked themselves.  We'll have to make time to do that next time we're passing through.
