This type of camera was part of the first 3 camera outside broadcast of the Olympics in London in 1948.

Part of exhibition before showing of Super Hi-Vision footage of London 2012. Super Hi-Vision has 16 times the resolution of current HD TV, as well as 22 channel sound.

To give you perspective, the 1984 Olympics in LA was the first time that HD was used for a major sporting event so on that basis super hi vision will be in our homes in 20-25 years.
