Half Hill House (?)

Last night, to celebrate the arrival of autumn, lit the wood fire for the first time. It has now turned wonderfully sunny during the day which means cool nights - it was +4°C this morning.

Spurred on by seeing Fellow Bliper Davetherave's entry yesterday, I was set to tackle the unending list of tasks in the garden. First stop to get the tractor out only to find a largish drip mark on the concrete below the engine, luckily though there was already some sawdust and the mark was clear, diesel rather than oil. Traced it back to the tap on the fuel tank and as it was pretty full, no choice but to pump it out before removing the tap and finding the fault. Stupidly the leaking seal cannot be replaced. So off to the agricultural engineers ... yet again!

Today is MOT day and found Farmer Franz waiting with his New Holland and Pöttinger Loader-Silage Wagon. They passed but he didn't want to be bliped because the equipment wasn't clean (but see Extra Photo). Did look around for a possible Blip and saw a nice line up of some of the interesting shapes of  used machines - another Extra.

Sadly the very "cheap" John Deere replacement part is not available until December and so had to go for the mega expensive standard part they had ... Grrrr. At least this one allows the seal to be replaced. But I guess as the original part has lasted 51 years, I guess I won't be around to see the day, although I just wonder if the modern day diesel with it's added ethanol, may have caused the problem. Just a few weeks ago when I jokingly mentioned not filling up with Shell Advanced Formula1 V-Plus Extra Boost Turbo diesel, one of the owners of the workshop said many oldtimer enthusiasts only use premium diesel because it is much "purer" than standard.

On the way home saw the lovely front garden of this farmhouse above and overlooking Ottobeuren. Later found out that they have three holiday apartments in a house just to the left of the ladder/fruit tree. Each unit with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, bath & WC and seem to cost around 50 Euros/night - so anyone wanting a break from Brexit, The Carlton at Cannes now, with the devaluation of the UK Pound, outside the budget, try a Bavarian Farmhouse holiday -  Ten quid/night/person and Memmingen airport just 20 minutes away served by Ryanair and a hire car around 20 Euros/day AND A FREE BLIP MEETING THROWN IN TOGETHER WITH A ONE WEEK HONORARY TRACTOR TUESDAY BLIP GROUP ADMITTANCE.

Back home, did the reverse of dismantling and did a little bit of front loader work. Angie took off for the vet in Memmingen with Eddie for his leg problem follow up and to get some treatment for a cold which is starting, no doubt caught from Cindy. All OK but have decided to still give him some painkillers for his leg which is looking good but possibly still a bit painful despite him now being very active.

Actually a good day and managed not a single task on the list!
