10,000 Years of Trade: Another View

About a month ago I posted a photo called 10,000 Years of Trade , it was taken from the other side of the Columbia River in Washington and was a twilight view of The Dalles Bridge, Dam and community of The Dalles with Mt. Hood in the distance.

In the view pictured above, the river bisects a path between The Dalles and Oregon on the right and the Columbia Hills and Washington on the left. The Dalles Bridge, a pinkish beige can be seen in the middle distance with the dam directly behind.

The damming of the river buried Celilo Falls, the ancient Native American salmon fishing site.

The boat in the photo, docked on the Oregon shore, is very near the Rock Fort campsite where Lewis & Clark and Corps of Discovery camped in their exploration of this area in the early 1800's.

Mt. Hood is about 40 miles to the southwest of where this photo was taken.

The extra: Mt. Adams and the Columbia River as seen from The Dalles, looking northwest.
