……......….Tiny Egg
The tiny white dot on the leaf is a freshly laid egg of the monarch butterfly.
Several butterflies spent most of the day fluttering around the swan plants in the garden laying many eggs.
The female will die after she has laid all her eggs - usually between 300 and 400. Only a few of these eggs will mature to become butterflies.
A huge thank you for the comments, hearts and stars for yesterday’s regal looking horse who posed perfectly for the photo.
For those interested, I found the following information on this website Further interesting reading about grey and white coloured horses can be found on this site too.
- A grey horse is one with black skin but white or mixed dark and white hairs.
- Grey horses can be born any colour, and lighten as they age. Most will eventually grey out to either a complete white or to a "fleabitten" coat, which retains speckles of the horses original colour.
- Most "white" horses are actually greys with a fully white hair coat.
- A grey horse is distinguished from a white horse by dark skin, particularly noticeable around the eyes, muzzle, flanks, and other areas of thin or no hair.
