Salvage

About 5 weeks ago a barge sank close to the entrance to Brightlingsea Creek.
They refloated it today with the large orange airbags and towed it into the harbour.
A huge lorry with a winch on the back was connected by a steel wire to the stem of the barge and the barge was duly hauled towards the shore. As the barge touched the bottom the wire went tight and pulled the stem clean out of the planking.
Oooops.
