Day Twenty Two - Montanita
This morning I woke up at 3am. This is how the conversation between Brendan and myself went:
Me: *feel something soft next to me on the bed*
Me: Brendan. There's something on the bed.
Brendan: What?
Me: There's something on the bed.
Brendan: What do you mean something on the bed!
Me: There's something on the bed!!!!!!
Me: *find phone and shine the torch in the middle of the bed*
Me: There's a cat on the bed!!!
The bedroom light went on and we saw that the resident stray cat that always hangs around the hostel was curled up in the middle of our bed, nicely settled right between us. It was one of those moment when you're so taken aback and shocked but it's very funny later on! She looked up at us as if to say 'what's on the bed guys?' As if this was her bed and she wasn't doing anything wrong! Sadly I can't sleep with animals on the bed (we tried many times with Bella) so we picked her up and put her back outside, then we blocked the hole under our door with some of our clothes bags and went back to sleep!
We woke up properly around 10ish, still giggling about the cheeky cats antics! We headed to breakfast alley where we had the best breakfast toastie!! It had cheese, eggs, avocado, lettuce and ham - 'mega tostada'!!
It had clouded over again today so we went back to the hostel to chill in the common area. Around midday I'd gotten a bit stir crazy from staying by the hostel and had a bit of cabin fever. We walked up the road to get some cheap pizza for lunch and then went down to the beach to cloud bathe!
I fell asleep, and woke up with the sun beating down on me. I'd neglected to put sun cream on so had some cracking tan lines where my shorts had been! Thankfully I'd left my tshirt on so saved myself from a painfully burnt back!
We wandered down the beach again around 4ish and managed to get all the way to the end this time where there's a rocky part with a few small pools, and you can look back and see the whole of the beach and the little huts sat on the beach. The view was beautiful.
We went back to the same place for dinner and I had pasta alfresco - it was spaghetti, creamy sauce, mushrooms and ham and it was great!!
We went back to the hostel for a couple of glasses of closs, some card games and some chatting. The vibe in the hostel is slightly different today with lots of new people, so we had a pretty quiet one and headed to bed. We've had to start using earplugs to try and din the unbelievable noise from passing trucks and stray tapping dogs.
