House Concert
I attended my first house concert last night at the home of Marianne, a woman in my singing group. Grisha Krivchenia was the pianist for the evening and he played original piano works, as well as works by Bach, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and a favorite of mine, Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven. He spoke to us in between about the works he played, and he shared his personal experiences with the music. He is involved with a group called Lifesongs in Santa Fe, New Mexico, that pairs composers with people who are in hospice or at end of life and they write songs together. He shared some of these stories and a few of the songs as well - it was incredibly moving. A terrific evening and a great experience.
“Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent”
