New undies anyone?

I've been sorting yet more of Mum's stuff today and came upon the Daily Express for the day after the outbreak of WWII. It makes very interesting reading.

I was taken with the adverts in the paper and thought that some warm underwear might be just the ticket as we're into autumn. They're no good to me as I'm not Outsize but someone might be glad of Locknit Knickers for 2/- (postage 2d) or Combinations for 6/-. If you want the "better quality" wool you'll have to run to 7/9 (postage 4d).  They'll last a while as they're reinforced between the legs.

I remember wearing a liberty bodice when I was a child, an item of clothing that has long disappeared.
