Edinburgh Doors Open Day/ weekend, and with only a few hours available I decided to 'do' Rutland Sq before heading up to the Fire Station Museum and the Anatomical Museum at Teviot.

I thought you might all enjoy the startlingly colourful stairwell at the Scottish Art Club, where an exhibition about Perth's Patrick Geddes included the wonderful statement by Hugh MacDiarmid describing Geddes' disdain for what i take to mean wordy reports and policies: 'verbalistic empaperment'
