Old Skool

Today we visited a replica Victorian Classroom situated in Leith Walk Primary School, Edinburgh, and as one of us so politely put it, it gave me a chance to reminisce back to my childhood.  There were the old chalk-boards, an abacus, wooden desks with the storage under the lid, ink wells, old globes etc (see extra photos).  The teacher's desk even had a seat in front for naughty children to sit at.  Children from local schools visit this classroom and are taught in the old-style ways to teaching.  There is also a museum next door which displayed some old household items, such as a mangle, and old wash-tub, spinning hoops, a cooking range etc.  A very interesting afternoon.
