The Colorado River
We are on a rideabout..traveling to Utah to see some scenic sights and then looping back into Colorado for more scenic sights and some high mountains. Today we journeyed to Moab, Utah..home of Arches National Park..red rocks and arches. Tomorrow we visit the park..I might blow up the camera taking photos there!
But to get to Moab we drove along a scenic two lane road which was bumpy and narrow that paralleled the Colorado River. It was like being on another planet..rocks as big as houses, sheer walls of rock along the river and then the river itself..big and wide in places but then smaller and shallow in others..meandering along for about 30 miles. This area was a few miles away from Moab. It has a campsite and picnic area but also a boat ramp for kayakers, canoers and paddleboarders. You can just barely make out the paddleboarder on the river. There is also a dedicated biking path from town to this area with mountain biking being a very big pastime in the area.
It really pays to take the little back road!
