Manchurian Pear

The Manchurian Pear or Pyrus ussuriensis, flowers early in spring and has stunning autumn leaf colour of plum-red, scarlet and gold.  The young branches are a rich purple/brown. It is used extensively throughout our streetscapes, both in Shepparton and other small towns in the municipality. This, I took in the park surrounding Victoria Park Lake this morning.  The flowers are about 2.5cm, across, so not as tiny as some, but dainty and fresh nevertheless.
