Sun-dried thistle

Another beautiful day and so many images that I wanted to blip. Not sure what I'd do without blipfolio all of a sudden... other than be frustrated!!

Went walking on Turton Heights somewhere where I almost lived during my teenage years. Beautiful open moorland full of calling birds and a huge sky.

My other stream shows a view looking South from near the triangulation point.

Looking North from near the same point.

This one and this one are views West and this view and this are both looking Northwest into the setting sun.

The meadow below Turton Heights was full of insect life - too full! Midges and flies covering the path so stopping to photograph anything became a pain - literally - as I was seen as meals on wheels seemingly!

That said the meadow was also full of butterflies, gatekeepers in reasonable numbers and whites by the dozen. I think they were all green veined whites including this one.

The meadow was awash with flowers of various types including the thistles that is the main picture. The grasses were all drying and lit by the low sun as were the flowers and seed heads of various plants. The leaves and even the horses were lit up by the setting sun.

I popped up to the Last Drop again to where I knew I could get a good view of the sunset and even the car decided to join in,
