Letchworth Garden City
A trip to the hairdresser's today in Letchworth, the first Garden City. Built in 1903 with many Art Deco influenced buildings, it also has the first UK roundabout bolt in 1909.
I like looking above the shop fronts as so many different styles of architecture can be seen. The building on the right must have a cinema at one time.
Not sure about these new water fountains that have appeared in the last couple of years.
As Letchworth was developed by the Quakers there were no pubs until 1958. Now there are a few. One of the oldest is The Black Squirrel to commemorate the first place in England where one of these little creatures were seen.
After spotting one myself in our garden last week. I spotted another one yesterday when I was driving about 10 mike's from home.
