Malham Cove, Yorkshire Dales

A grand few days had by all. Me and my two boys camping in two man tent. Day one was excellent, set up at River Side Campsite, Malham Cove, stroll round Malham then headed up to the cove. The picture was taken from the top of the cove. Very difficult choosing a shot, the area offers so many.
A meandering path leads to the foot of the cove, with a set of steps to one side leading to the top.
The cove(crag) was created in the last ice age. The Carboniferous Limestone was then shaped by the melt water flowing from Malham Tarn. You can see evidence of Glacier activity throughout the Yorkshire Dales creating the "V" and "U" shaped valleys we see today.
The top of the cove is looks like crazy paving with large gaps formed by water erosion creating a cracked limestone pavement. Great for the kids to navigate.
We then proceeded up to Malham Tarn.
All in all a grand day. The only advice i would give is to take some midge repellent as the camp site is next to a river ( i know obvious), we suffered for this oversight. The sun goes in and they come out in high numbers.
