Pigeon Abatement: Success or Failure--You Decide

Pigeons roosting under the Santa Cruz Wharf were determined to be a major source of the high bacteria levels that have plagued the adjacent beach for years. For months now city crews have been installing stainless steel mesh barricades over every possible pigeon nesting site underneath the wharf, with the goal of making the water safe for swimming. The jury is still out on this one.
