Backblip #2
Me and Mother decided to walk along the coast to Herne Bay. We set out, optimistically dressed, and only made it the 50 yards to the sea before it started raining. Raining doesn't really cover it actually. In the minute it took us to run back up Harbour Street we were drenched head to toe. We got hot chocolates in Costa and waited until we were dry.
After that early glitch, the weather brightened up. Half the journey was cloudy but dry, and the other half was gloriously sunny and hot. This was the stage in between - sun and cloud together.
Herne Bay is a weird place. Very different to Whitstable - less fishing boats and salty sea dogs, more amusement arcades and greasy spoons. After a hell of a trek around town trying to find somewhere to eat that was both a) nice and b) open on a Sunday, we settled on an okay-ish place opposite the beach. We had sandwiches, and then caught the bus back to Whitstable.
Also, this is the day we discovered that there's a pub called The Peter Cushing.
