Aurora Borealis

I have never seen the northern lights. Several months ago I realised that I was actually in a good location to see them, however, during the height of summer, there isn't a lot of darkness so I had to wait. I've been following a website that gives a 3 day forecast, giving a probability of seeing the lights, and tonight, the forecast was "GO". Due to the southern latitude, electromagnetic activity has to be high for it to be visible from Halden (same as the Orkneys), combined with a clear sky. I'm quite pleased with the outcome as it was my first attempt at night photography/northern lights. Can't wait for more opportunities!
