Cape St Francis
Tomorrow at six Johann and myself intend to be off to Cape St Francis, near Humansdorp.
From George, it lies plus minus 335 kms toward the East, whereas Cape Town lies 538km toward the West. These are all coastal towns/cities.
On this piece of coastline on the southern tip of Africa, we have the Indian Ocean from the east that meets up with the Atlantic Ocean from the west, at the MOST southerly tip of the African continent, viz. Cape Agulhas, stretching all the way west to Cape Town, and beyond.
The Pacific is known to have a moderate temperature, whereas the Atlantic comes straight from the freezer compartment ..... brrrrr.
On our way to Cape St Francis, near Humansdorp (and further on to the city of Port Elizabeth), we shall travel the whole length of the Garden Route - if you do not know about this piece of garden straight from the Garden of Eden, I will have to do another blip on the Garden Route. Later.
An outpouring of nature's splendour, beauty and ecstasy, that no words can describe, is visible in this stretch. The name: Garden Route may be an apt description, but it falls short of the amazing beauty, which many believe, is no where else on this earth to be found. I do not exaggerate.
When we leave tomorrow morning, we shall travel the highway towards Port Elizabeth, unfortunately missing many of the amazing sights to be seen, as for these you have to deviate and travel the old roads.. Our time to visit with our children, Blanche, Chris, and grand children - Cecilia Jean and Christoff, is short, so we shall be making a beeline for our destination.
On our way, there is a place called Nature's Valley .... I have no words to describe the beauty and serenity of this place. Fairly inaccessible from the highway, you have to take the 'old' national road that meanders down into this Valley situated on the coast ... unspoilt in its grandeur, and still very natural ... it takes your breath away .....
As I said, early tomorrow we'll be off to Cape St Francis .... sorry for meandering and babbling about things unknown to many peoples ...... but, yes, this is a piece of Heaven - on our doorstep!
The blip shows the coastal road from George to Cape St Francis - about 335kms travelling distance.
I will take along a flask of coffee, Christmas gifts to our hosts, groceries, and of course my little camera.
Bless you all.
