Kowhai breathes a sigh of relief

At long last this tree is planted in a real garden. It has been in a pot for probably eight years maybe longer.  I remember getting it. It was one of those xmas gifts that firms used to give other firms (all those years ago!) and it was in a balsa wood wine bottle box. The receptionists were gutted to open it and find a little seedling instead of a mighty red!   So I took it.

It has had a bit of a rough life and nearly died a few times. Long may it grow strong here in the dappled sunlight of Spider Alley.

The other lovely kowhai I owed (thanks to my friend Mara) was planted out and so got left behind at our previous house. 

A good 5.5 hours today in the garden, we got a lot done!
