Last Picking

As a child in Bedfordshire my dads mum, a great country woman and food gatherer, it was instilled in me that Blackberries picked in October had been "spat on by the Devil".  Sadly I never questioned the reasoning behind this rule. I now wonder if it was a form of conservation in that some late fruit would be left for the birds and hedgerow beasties?
A back blip, as yesterday despite a daylight finish and the chance to gather the above, the laptop decided it had no WiFi unit fitted, and it was very late before I managed convince it did! joy.....
Will endeavour to catch up during what will be a non working weekend up already a hectic one!
