Spring is really emerging now

...and a wander round the garden after lunch today revealed lots of treasures as well as our lovely oaks that line the driveway coming into leaf.
This clivia is one of a mass I have planted under a long ponga pergola. The blossom is prunus "Awanui" and the catkins are Betula utilis "Jermyns", a birch with a ghostly white and smooth trunk when grown in our South Island , but here in the Waikato, it is rather more humid, so becomes decorated with lichen.
