SeaFeast!
We enjoyed our day out on the harbor at Bellingham SeaFeast, a new festival this year to celebrate the city's maritime heritage, working waterfront, fishing and seafood industries, and culinary bounty.
There was a full line-up of entertainment, and we were delighted to arrive just as Bellingham Circus Guild began its "Something Wonderful" show, which included the outstanding performer seen here. All eyes -- except for those of the young lad in the background -- were glued on her, and numerous camera lenses as well!
We watched a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter rescue demonstration -- see Phil's blip -- and enjoyed displays and activities presented by local nonprofits, as well as a row of vendors offering water-related arts and crafts. Trident Seafoods offered free wild Alaskan salmon sliders (small sandwiches) and there were several local food vendors on site, offering paella, Indian food, pizza, and more, as well members of the Lummi Nation, who were cooking salmon in their traditional fashion.
No one wore a political button or t-shirt. Everyone we saw was relaxed and having a good time. It was a welcome respite from this year's election season.
