Just a parrot's life

Pakara conference (parrot club)

Today my parrot club Pakara organised a day with readings from different people. It was extra interesting because one of my most favorite avian specialists dr. Yvonne van Zeeland (who diagnosed my sennie Mickey with Cushings) was there too. She had an interesting lecture about "What parrots want?!?" based on the research she is doing on african grey parrots and their (plucking) behaviour. It was great to see her and talk to her. Dr. Nico Schoemaker was there too. Ir. Ed.J. Gubbels, updated us about the "positive list keeping animals as a pet", Winny Weinbeck, the chairman of Pakara, told us about the birds of New Zealand and Australia and after that Elvira Kosasih, head of training the animals in the Zoo Ouwehands Dierenpark Rhenen told us about how they train the animals, and especially she told us about Ken, a female macaw which she also trains. Than we had a good lunch. After that we had a walk through the park and than I suddenly felt not good.. especially my tummy and it was bad, because I almost fainted. So ... I decided to drive home again ... I think that was a good decision because only per 5:30 PM we would come back together for a drink. That would be too long for me. But.... didn't regret going and yes... I went by car!
