Labour of love
Stopped off to visit Glenwhan gardens near Stranraer.
Designed over 30 years ago from 12 acres of bracken-covered hillside by Tessa Knott this is a labour of love.
Thanks to the Gulf Stream it enjoys a very mild climate with many rare plants and trees, sculptures and several lakes.
We were the only visitors so we just left money in their honesty box.
This remote corner of southwest Scotland is often referred to as one of the country’s hidden gems.
And it’s likely to remain so.
You need to be a determined traveller to get there because of its remoteness.
