What a wonderful 2 weeks of sporting excellence we've had the privilege to witness at the London 2012 Olympics.

Team GB's medal tally has been outstanding, the coverage from the BBC, it's presenters and commentators has been spot on and the organisation has been a triumph.

It's been such a pleasure to turn on the TV, pick up a newspaper or tune in to the radio and have such positive images and messages communicated. It seems everyone has been talking about the Olympics, even those that don't usually like sport. The spectacle has lifted our spirits, ignited our patriotism and who knows...it may even achieve it's mission of inspiring a generation. Let's hope so! Not just inspired to compete at the highest level, but also to enjoy participating in regular physical activity.

The opening ceremony was an education in British history and world geography...looking forward to finding out how they'll bring the curtain down tomorrow.
