Menorca Day 6: Siesta Before the Fiesta

More abandoned in large.
Back blip

Before Mahón (/Maó), we went back over towards Son Bou to see the Poblat Talaiotic de Torre d'en Galmés (which we noticed signposted on the road when visiting the Palaeochristian Basilica / Cala Llucalari). It was an amazing site: it is a village-scale settlement, with many houses (including several incorporating caves, and one with a hypostyle hall), talaiots, taulas, and a cistern system cut into the rock for collecting water. There were also lots of wall lizards and other caves. It was pretty hot, so all the shelter was welcome.

Mahón was seriously sleepy: almost everywhere was shut, most of the streets were shuttered, and there were very few people about. The decorations were jolly.
