Portsmouth Historic Docks

My annual ticket was about to expire so I arranged to meet an ex-work friend for a visit to this superb place. This is HMS Alliance, over at Gosport - the ferry over there is included - and you are taken on a tour by a submariner or, today, an engineer who took his time to explain some highly technical stuff so that the next 2 tours were backing up behind us.

The extra is of one of the mess rooms. Food was mainly tinned.

The display for visitors was designed by marine archaeologists apparently, and the stores included boxes labelled "S.N.A.F.U. Ltd", which I take to be marine archaeologist's little joke.
