Wallace Monument
It was the first day of the Junior European Cup (JEC) in orienteering. This year was Britain’s turn to host the event, but the national body was a wee bit reluctant to get involved so Scotland took responsibility. The first day was a sprint at Stirling University and this control gave a good opportunity for action in front of the Wallace Memorial. I was the 'official’ photographer, so spent a lot of time in the evening getting photos on the web. I was late to bed and we had to get to Aberfoyle quite early on Saturday for the relays. The runner in the blip is from Norway and was in the M18 class. There was serious talent from Switzerland in particular with several junior world champions. We had a chance to run the courses afterwards and I was pleased to be within twice the winner’s time.
