Which course in Scotland?
Definitely not going to play golf today. Oh, spare place in a cart? Hmm – well, maybe… oh, what the heck, someone has to watch HH’s ball or he’ll never find it.
So I wound up playing in the Quaich, and when HH quit after 9 holes because it was blooming cold and started to rain, I even carried on (couldn’t have done it without the cart). I was hitting the ball well, but throwing shots away round the green and yet again, not in with a chance of winning that coveted trophy (HH has his name on it two or three times). Still, I had a decent drive on the 16th and was very happy to clock up the longest drive for the women (extra photo). There wasn't a lot of competition :-)
In spite of the cart, ours was the slowest group on the course, and deservedly rewarded by heavy rain on the last two holes. So by the time I’d had a long shower to warm up and grabbed some food, the club was practically empty and it was a rush to get the shopping done, go home to change and get back for the evening party. Our house guests, expert dancers from across the hill, had already arrived, gone back to the house with HH and left again before I got home). The party was in full swing by the time I got there and the club was full to bursting – wonderful!. The pipe band of young Brazilians from one of the poorer communities were also there, but had done all their playing in the afternoon, which we slowcoaches only heard from a distance. Still, it has been a great evening, with lots of enthusiastic, if rather inexpert, Scottish country dancing.
