Seiza

Yesterday I bought another eight sets of four jigsaw mats, making a total of 20 sets (80 mats). My dojo mat is thus now 4 m by 5 m. Here I've finished the day's training, and grabbed a photo.

My lad has other ideas about the purpose of these mats. I thought it was to be a bit kinder on my feet (it also makes various turns - including turning on the ball or mid-foot instead of the heel - rather a lot easier, which I've found interesting in terms of the implications for real-world vs shiai (tournament) use and practice of karate); my lad, however, is firmly of the belief that it is a racetrack for his toys - wheeled or plush.
