Plum season

Today's photo prompt is My kitchen, so here, in similar vein to yesterday, is an unimaginative shot of my kitchen. Roast plums with gin and juniper berries; it also features my second Not pot, the larger version of which you saw yesterday.

This evening we feasted our eyes on Agnes Varda's New Wave Cléo de 5 à 7 at the Colisée, which has a new feature of one old film a month. It leapt into my all time top ten; what a beautiful film. It was shot in 1961, in black and white, and much of it takes place in the bustling streets of Paris, with a handheld camera following Cléo around. The cars, the clothes, the faces; the use of reflections and mirrors; it's superbly done, full of life and interest. There's no plot to speak of, except for Cléo's journey from fear to acceptance, but it doesn't really matter; it's a constantly moving artwork. As well as the gorgeous images, the score is a delicate Michel Legrand, with Legrand himself making an entertaining cameo appearance as singer Cléo's pianist. Highly recommended!
