Hinds and Seek

This young stag had rolled and smeared himself in mud, spruced himself up and was ready for the rut, but where are you girls ?

I had been to have my annual Nuffield medical (which I last did 5 years ago) all clear thankfully but for the usual lose weight, more exercise and cut out more red meat and you will be super fit - yeah. It was actually good stuff and very thorough. However the best bit was calling in Wollaton Hall and Deer Park on the way home. It only feels like autumn when you see and hear the rut. There were quite a few stags around but no hinds. I wonder if they hide them away for safety reasons in the public park ?

I particularly enjoyed watching this young stag going through the ritual of wallowing,  rutting stags urinate in muddy pits, then roll in it to anoint themselves. Smearing mud on his flanks, chest and legs to get nice and smelly for the ladies. A few shots of it in extra but a bit frustrating for him when there are no hinds to be found.
