Tea from China?

This is a follow-up to my blip last Sunday.

We were back at The Angel for morning coffee. Looking at the cabinet properly I noticed that it had these characters on all the drawers, though some had faded and or been partially rubbed off. Was it originally used to store tea from (in?) China?
