Take the 'A' Train
Well, it wouldn't be me without a steam train Blip every now and again. Today we climbed Mount Washington, the highest point of the eastern states of the USA. I say 'climbed', but we did have a bit of assistance from the Mt. Washington Cog Railway which took us the 4000 metres or so to the summit in only three miles; some of the gradients were incredibly steep! Normally, there is only one steam run a day, first thing in the morning, and we were unable to get there in time for that so our trip was on one of the diesels (they run three trains up and down at a time, A, B and C and we were on the 'A' train). However, when we got down the steam train was doing an extra run so I managed a few shots.
The views from the top of the mountain were lovely; we had gone through so were looking down on the clouds, with bright sunshine when it had been dull at the base. A memorable day.
