The Old Jewish Cemetery...

...Jewish Quarter, Prague.

This cemetery was established in the first half of the 15th century, the last burial being in 1787. It contains over 12,000 tombstones, but as Jews were not allowed to be buried outside the ghetto, it is thought that over 100,000 are buried here, up to ten layers deep.

The small stones placed on the tombstones symbolise the prescence and respect of those that have visited the site.
