The big job for this trip was demolishing the floors which the original owner had installed in the elevator shaft. She decided she didn't need a lift, so she had floors (walls and ceilings too) built at both of the living levels.
We think a lift will be better in the long run. If you come to visit, you will too, because the stairs are long when you're humping a suitcase.
The tradesman who built these floors knew his business. It's all clear now, but I think the job moved me closer to the day I'll need the lift to get upstairs.
