Half Dome and the Bend in the River

Woke up feeling so much better this morning! After breakfast Mr S went on a long hike and I packed up my art stuff and rode my bike out to see what I could see. Yosemite has a great art instruction program with visiting artists changing every week, and I hoped to see where the class was working. Luckily they were drawing out in the open and it wasn't too late to join in, so i spent several hours in good company drawing various views of the Valley, including this one.  Half Dome is such a presence here that it figures in most of my images. Plus it has escaped the name changes of every landmark in the Valley that occurred when a new concessionnaire took over the hotels and marketing. There is some nasty and absurd litigation over the copywrites of iconic place names like the Ahwahnee Hotel (now the Majestic) and Curry Village (Half Dome Village), but it doesn't extend to the mountains themselves.

I was going to include my drawing as an extra, but can't seem to do it from the iPad, even in Safari. Maybe I can add it when I get home. Looks like it worked!
