The Fort Coll de Ladrones is a military defense building from the nineteenth century built in the town of Canfranc (Aragon, Spain). Built on rocks, the Fort watches the French border, constituting a perfect example of modern military architecture adapted to mountainous terrain.
Within the same, two buildings made of stone of the area. The darkest was the headquarters for the troops, and has two big areas and two floors. The sunniest was reserved for officials, offices and nursing, excelling its stately staircase. The artillery defenses occupied four hidden spots facing north, excavated in rock, in addition to the corresponding powder keg. A spectacular crenellated gallery opened in the rock, descends to a battery located on the river, directly pointing the road. The rock is an essential part of the defense system with equal or greater importance than the masonry walls.

Si es que hay taaanto que ver en la Jacetania…
El Fuerte de Coll de Ladrones es un fuerte fusilero del siglo XIX emplazado en el municipio de Canfranc (Aragón,España). Edificado sobre peñascos, el fuerte cierra la frontera francesa, constituyendo un perfecto ejemplo de arquitectura militar moderna adaptada a un terreno montañoso.
Dentro del mismo despuntan dos edificios revestidos de piedra del país. El más umbrío fue cuartel para la tropa, y posee dos naves y dos pisos. El más soleado se reservó para oficiales, oficinas y enfermería, sobresaliendo su escalera señorial. Las defensas artilleras ocupan cuatro bocas orientadas al norte excavadas en roca, además del correspondiente polvorín. Una espectacular galería aspillerada, abierta en la roca, desciende hasta una batería situada sobre el río, batiendo directamente la carretera. La roca forma parte esencial del sistema defensivo, con igual o mayor importancia que los muros de fábrica.
